Daily Devotion with Dr. George
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
Scripture: Matthew 18:21-22
Thought for the Day:
Mankind has always had a difficult time forgiving others. Even Peter the Apostle posed a question to our Lord concerning this; he asked the Lord how many times am I to forgive my brother for sinning against me, Peter thought it will be just a certain number of times, but what Jesus related to Peter is, as often as it takes we are to forgive our fellow brother.
Jesus taught us how to pray, by the model prayer given in Matthew chapter-6, the 12th verse of that chapter read: forgive us our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors. If we desire for God to forgive us we must forgive others even for the hard things.
What does it mean to truly forgive? The Greek definition for “forgive” in that verse means to let go, yield up, not to discuss, keep no longer! How many time have we said we have forgiven others but keep talking about it!
Jesus says in Mark 11:25: “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. In the 26 verse it says, but if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.” Can anyone afford to not be forgiven by God?
People of God, if your prayers become jeopardized of being answered because you have not forgiven others you can expect to face lack, need, un-answered prayers, anger, and possibly bitterness because of your disobedience. Although you know the word says you are to prosper and be in good health with a sound mind and because it’s not manifesting in your life you will become angry, many times we become angry with God because the best is not manifesting in our life but it’s not God we are to become angry with, it’s self we need to point the finger at!
Sheltering un-forgiveness can inhibit your spiritual growth where you are not walking in the blessings of God just the hindrances such as sickness in your body, lack, and anger, you are angry because many of your prayers are not answered.
Are you harboring any un-forgiveness against anyone? It’s time to let it go! Free yourself so you can move to your next level. God has plans for your life and you are hindering them, God said if you don’t forgive others he can’t forgive you and he will not go against his word. Free yourself that you can move on into the plans and blessings that God has for you, its your time, your time to FORGIVE!
